...Me...that's who!
The first round of holiday insanity has gratefully passed and I'm 0 for 1. However, being of sound constitution, a couple of days distance between me and the debacle finds me good as new...even....optimistic.
The new found cheerfulness took hold at the Vermont Women's Festival of Crafts (no link?!) held yesterday at City Hall in Burlington. I met many wonderful women artists, networked like a pro and left feeling good about the prospects, making sure to pass my particulars to the coordinator for next year.
I was also re-reminded of a local group called Burlington Craft Mafia and a cooperative handmade goods site called ETSY. I'm going to try to join the mafia (if they'll have me) and place some stuff on ETSY stat so I can fund some more supplies and get ready for the spring and summer shows.
I celebrated by returning home to buy vintage buttons on ebay for future projects of my own. I won these:
and these lovely colored ones:
I have several more lots on watch and plan to spend the meantime deciding what to do with them. One thing I know for sure is to decorate picture frames for my photography.
Although I personally love a simple frame so as not to detract from what's in them, I believe that modern photographers benefit from offering more than just an image (at least in craft fair settings). Many of my images are abstract and I like the idea of using them as an element in a larger piece, i.e. the frame will be just as much a part of the whole as the image itself.
I also bought a plain black military issue rucksack from the army navy store and devise to pimp it with buttons, seat belt clasps, embroidery, paint or what-have-you. If it turns out, I'll use it as a prototype for more.
This ebay thing has the earmarks of a chronic problem though....I just discovered they have old typewriter keys...
Impulsively,
